Jennifer Love Hewitt Diets, Tells Girls to Love Their Bodies

Actress_jennifer-love-hewitt  Jennifer Love Hewitt wants you to know that although she would trade bodies with Gisele Bundchen in a heartbeat, you? You should love the skin you're in.

J. Love is back in the news, going on about her belief that girls should love what they look like, except when they don't.

"When I meet young girls, I'm always like, 'Just do me one favor,'" she says in People. "'Love what you look like right now – and remember I said it 10 years from now because it's the greatest gift I can give.'"

This would be all well and good, I guess, although the concept of girls doing her favors and taking gifts from her is a little weird. However, also included with the article are Love's (I can call her that, right?) "diet tricks, exercise tips and (honest!) thoughts on plastic surgery," and dreams of switching places with Gisele Bundchen or maybe Halle Berry.

Look, I get it, as much as a non-famous woman who would appreciate looking even a tad like her "before" photos can. And if pressed, I'd switch with Halle. Keywords: no Tom Brady.

And It must be hard out there for a woman who looks perfectly fine who nonetheless is in the news when her underling boyfriend calls her a "pear ass." (I had no idea who Jamie Kennedy was then, still don't now.) Also there was that situation with the bikini photos that were published a few years ago and the vajazzling thing didn't really take off, I don't think.

But this old bikini body was a serious problem? Jennifer-love-hewitt-bikini-two

I do understand having different standards for yourself, and needing to work on these perceptions, although Jennifer's statement that she had to take a couple of weeks to work on "the mental part" of all of this and that was all she wrote? May just explain why the "hey, love yourself" message has to be accompanied once again by the "secrets" of weight loss and exercise brought to you through the ages by double standards and subliminal messages everywhere.

"I think I'm a work in progress," she said. "I feel it's so much better than a year-and-a-half ago, and I feel like in another eight months, it's going to be so much better than it is today."

Word. I'm not sure what happens in eight months, but I hope it's something good that doesn't involve a number on a scale, or Jamie Kennedy.

I have such a beef with that guy and I don't know why.

Anyway, there is nothing wrong and usually everything right with exercise and eating healthfully. There is everything, obviously, right with loving what you look like and yourself in general. I'm just not sure why when that last message comes from a celebrity it is usually accompanied by a spanking new photo prominently featuring a jutting hipbone. It's more of a head game that young girls get enough of, thanks.

Do not love, Love.

Laurie quit her after Party of Five.

So someone who clearly has body image issues is giving advice to not have body image issues? Shut up already J.Love!

Suzy Q

Gah. This woman rubs me the wrong way. What a fucking airhead.

Love...YOU. :)

I don't know. It doesn't seem that off to me. Well, maybe the plastic surgery.

I like the way I look. That does not mean I don't see places I would like to improve.

It's kind of like how they tell you to marry someone for the person he is, not who he'll become. That doesn't mean you get married and then never care about your husband or wife never improving as a person.

I like my body. But I would like to be stronger. I would like to fit more comfortably into my old jeans. I would like to wear sleeveless shirts again without what used to be my triceps swaying in the breeze.

I think somewhere there is a balance that includes loving how you look the way you are and realizing that eating well and exercising are necessary for your health. No, we do not need emaciated 9 year olds worrying about cellulite. But we also don't need obese children with health issues either. The focus should be health though, not trying to look like a lolly pop to live up to some unattainable image in a magazine. I think J. Love wants lolly pop status and is sending mixed messages.

Oh, and also? I can't stand Tom Brady and would not trade places with Gisele either. Unless I got to punch him in the chin dimple. Not that I condone abuse. Unless maybe it's Tom Brady.

I see where she's coming from. However, loving yourself means loving yourself, cellulite and all. Not saying you'd like to trade bodies/lives with other beautiful women. Because, you know, their lives are better. Or something. Except, they're not.
