Laura Ling Welcomes a Baby Girl
Less than a year ago, Laura Ling was a captive in a North Korean prison, but those bad days are behind her now as she can celebrate the birth of her new baby.
On Wednesday night, Laura Ling, gave birth to 8lb. 2oz. daughter Li Jefferson Clayton at St. Joseph's Hospital in Burbank, Calif. The name Li is for Laura's sister Lisa Ling, and the name Jefferson was chosen to honor former President William (Bill) Jefferson Clinton.
According to Laura, Bill Clinton "has checked in on me several times to see how I'm doing and has been so concerned and caring. He's such a wonderful human being."
Bill Clinton traveled to North Korea in August of 2009 to secure the release of Laura Ling and her fellow captive, Euna Lee, after they spent five months in imprisoned there.
What a year Laura's had - to go from such a horrendous experience to one of the best. Congratulations to Laura and her husband Iain Clayton.
. . . . .
Marilyn is really happy for Laura Ling.

Wait, Jefferson after Clinton? Not after, oh, I don't know, JEFFERSON?? That weird. Not that it's any of my business.

I remember this event vividly - a lovely, heartfelt gesture of appreciation. What more could Bill Clinton ask than to be thanked in such a way?
I have an admitted soft spot for Bill Clinton, despite everything. And, oh...it is despite a lot, I know! But, he is a statesmen, and he is very respected despite his transgressions, which is why Ms. Ling was fortunate to have his help.
Nice story.
