Naked Cowboy Sues Naked Cowgirl and Man I Couldn't Make This Stuff Up

Naked_cowboy If you have been to New York City and to Times Square, you have been probably seen the Naked Cowboy.  If not, and you are going soon, for say, Blogher, (Sparklecorn!), put him on your list of things to see.  He is quite a site.  A very tall, well built man who performs with a guitar, cowboy hat and a pair of white men’s briefs in the middle of Times Square.  He has been there for the past ten years.  But now there is a Naked Cowgirl.  And he is not happy.

The Naked Cowboy, whose real name is Robert Burck, is no stranger to lawsuits.  He sued M & Ms.  And now he is suing the Naked Cowgirl, Sandy Kane, who performs with a guitar, cowboy hat and a bikini.

The Cowboy’s camp sent a cease-and-desist to the Cowgirl, stating “Your use of Naked Cowgirl is essentially identical to the Naked Cowboy and is clearly in violation” of the Cowboy’s trademark. Burke has set up a franchise system for licensed imitators, who traditionally pay the cowboy $5,000 a year or $500 a month, but says he would be willing to negotiate with Kane.

Kane, for her part, is refusing to pay. “I’ve been naked for years,” the former stripper and burlesque artist told the New York Post.

Oh man do I want this to go to trial.  "I've been naked for years" defense is awesome!  Imagine if Law and Order was still on.  Just add a dead naked person and this has one of their "ripped from the headline" shows written all over it.  "Naked Cowgirl is dead.  Did Naked Cowboy do it?  Tonight at 10.  Ripped from the headlines."

(Hey NBC why don't I write for you?  Call me!)
