Dr. Phil Trounces on Human Decency, Again

Drphil I'm sure by now you have heard of that horrible story out of Florida with the teenagers luring a teenage girl to a house, beating the crap out of her, and recording it.  I adamantly refuse to link to the video, because I think it's just disgusting that the sheriffs office released it.  Especially since one of the goals of this whole thing was for the perpetrators to become internet superstars.  But trust me, if you want to find it, it won't be hard.  Just watch the Today Show, they won't stop showing that thing.

Dr. Phil, who is just a paragon of virtue of decency, and in a complete act of unselfishness and charity, has posted bail for the ringleader of the girls.  TMZ is reporting his show paid $33,000 for the girl to be released so she could appear on his show about teenage violence.

This sounds an awful lot like when he was going to do a whole show devoted to Britney after her breakdown.

A bail bondsmen informed TMZ that bail had been posted for the girl by a Dr. Phil producer and when she left the jail a man who claimed to be a producer for the Dr. Phil show helped escort her and her mom.  The producer then told reporters to leave the jail because the Dr. Phil show had exclusive rights to the girl's story. He did not comment on if Dr. Phil had helped pay for her bond.  The girls grandmother, who is her legal guardian, and recently said she did not have money for bail.

Dr. Phil scrapped plans for the show, thank goodness, and issued this statement to TMZ-

"We have helped guests and potential guests in the past when they need financial assistance to come on the show - assisting with clothing allowance, lost wages, accommodations, travel and necessities. In this case, certain staff members went beyond our guidelines (re: the bail being paid). These staff members have been spoken to and our policies reiterated. In addition, we have decided not to go forward with the story as our guidelines have been compromised."

I find it hard to believe Dr. Phil had no idea what was going on and this was all done behind his back.

I think he knew. Am I the only person who cringes when his voice or image is aired?

Missie

How could he NOT have known? Do his producers just run around with access to over thirty grand and have no oversight on how they spend it? Plus, he seems like such a control freak to me, that I find it hard to believe that he doesn't know every little thing that happens concerning his show.

I was willing to give him the benefit of the doubt about many things, but this is too much. He would have to pay me over thirty grand to ever watch his show again.

and on a side note? If my daughter were one of the girls who beat the crap out of someone like that? She could rot her little butt in jail.

Trish

When, oh when, can we get this huge TOOL off the air? Is he even relevant anymore? Sometimes I think he does crap like this just to keep his name in the media.

Dr. Phil probably started out with good intentions. You know - back when he was actually still a DR!!! But - somewhere along the way - he sold out. He did more than sell out. I'm pretty sure he sold his soul. Come to think of it, I'm going to look on ebay right now, because he's probably auctioning it off to the highest bidder...or the biggest trainwreck. Maybe he's giving his soul as payment to the biggest trainwreck willing to appear on his show.

Missie-I know! I actually say the mom of the ringleader on the Today show saying it was not her daughters fault, it was the girl who was beaten's fault b/c she said smack on my space. Um, if my daughter thought the appropriate response to someone talking smack about them was to beat the crap out of them I would hang my head in shame. And another parent blamed my space. These people need to start looking inward.

I agree, he HAD to have known. He's only backing down because it was discovered.

I guess being a huge douche pays well though: he was in that Parade cover story in yesterday's paper about how much people make. The numbers by his name: $90 MILLION last year.

I also liked Dr Phil, way back when, but then I also use to be a fan of Maury Povich when he actually was interesting, before all he did was shows about trashy girls sleeping with god knows how many dirt bags and then not knowing who fathered their child. Yuk.

Dr. Phil = HATE. What a fucking asshole. Thanks a lot, Oprah, for unleashing him on us.
