Ashton Kutcher Races CNN to Get One Million Twitter Followers

CmKUTCHER_rainbow_vest Ashton Kutcher is such a douche.

He has challenged CNN to see who can get 1 million followers on Twitter first.

He also said that if he wins he is going to "ding-dong ditch" Ted Turner's house.

(His words, not mine. I am not 8 years old.)

Sometimes I wonder if Ashton Kutcher has Tourette Syndrome, but most times I am pretty sure that he is just an ass clown.

Who dies he think he is to challenge CNN to anything? CNN is a major international media outlet and Ashton Kutcher is about 45 seconds from being a has been. I can appreciate the pathetic PR pitch, but here I am writing about him, so it must be working.

I almost hope Kutcher wins.

But only because I am assuming that Ted Turner has some pretty brutal guard dogs.

steff

he is such a turd nugget. he needs to go away. i actually wish i DID follow him on twitter so i could stop RIGHT NOW.

blackeyedgurl

I saw this morning on Twitter that Palinode had beaten both of them to 1 million, so both Kutcher and CNN can eat a dick.

I'm Just Sayin...

Wow, really? The guy's a douche because he's having some fun with Twitter? Was Ellen a douche when she had a race to 200k followers? Does the fact that he is making a donation to fight malaria whether he "wins" or not (and CNN is as well) make him any less douchier?

I am by no means a Kutcher fan, but no one is making you pay a bit of attention to this, so perhaps if you don't think it's worth your time, you shouldn't waste it writing about it in the first place.

Sarah, Goon Squad Sarah

You might be my favorite.

and to build of the argument made by "S" I think AK is also making a point here, he is one man actor/comedian whatever you want to call him and yet he could amass more followers than CNN...the world is changing, the way we get our news is changing and we don't have to turn to Mr. Turner and his mega news machine anymore. What does it tell us about our world that 1 man's voice can be heard by millions instead of just being fed "the line" by "the news"

or

maybe he is just doing that facebook thing where you point out you have more friends and therefore you are more awesome

First things first: Douche + turd nugget, * asking him to eat a dick = awesome.

Okay, secondly: " S " was obviously intrigued by the article enough to both read it and respond to it.

C: He is a douche. If he is in fact trying to raise awareness for malaria or whatever, can't you find a better way to do it other than...Twitter? And, yeah, I agree that it's really good that he is trying to raise awareness for that kind of stuff, but yet again I need to ask, why aren't celebs trying to raise money/awareness for diseases or education in our country?

And why in God's name would anyone want to get news from Ashton Kutcher? Sorry, I would take news from CNN, Fox, MSNBC, or whatever other news source is out there before I read it on Twitter.

really?

seriously? this is the silliest argument - wow

I don't agree. (Which is kind of new for me on Mompop, so I thought I'd try responding.)

I see it as being a real statement about the power of social media.

In my house we've pretty much given up on TV, news or otherwise. We get our news and entertainment from the Internet in the form of blogs, mmorpgs, a wide variety of news sources, and social media applications including twitter.

This is such a huge shift from the one-way information stream of television (and radio before that).

I find watching TV now to be really boring because it lacks the interactive quality that I crave now. (I still like to read, but I feel like that's more interactive than watching TV. Weird I guess.)

I'm kind of glad that it was a real person instead of a huge media outlet that hit that mark first. Making it a race with prizes and charity stuff attached was just for fun, but that's fine too. And they did manage to gather quite a bit of money to help fight malaria.

Yeah, so it's not an American charity. Whatever. I'm not going to complain about that. It is a cause he's interested in and passionate about. That's fine with me.
