Julie and Julia Trailer!

Julie_and_julia The trailer for the upcoming movie Julie and Julia has just been released and (I'm trying to say this in my best Julia Child voice) it looks delightful!

It's a little meta. The movie is based on a book: Julie and Julia: 365 Days, 524 Recipes, 1 Tiny Apartment Kitchen, which is based on a blog: Julie/Julia Project, which is based on one woman's experience reading another book: Julia Child's Mastering the Art of French Cooking. Nora Ephron adapted the book for the screen and it tells the tale of Julie Powell finding an escape from her dead-end job through the recipes and life lessons of Julia Child. Child, after all, was in a similar boat when she first moved to Paris with her husband. Well, no dead-end job got her down but she wasn't sure what to do with herself. She loved to eat, though, and decided to learn to cook and eventually enrolled in Le Cordon Bleu.

The movie certainly has a peachy-keen sheen to it. This isn't the heaviest material and certainly countless movies have gone to the land of, "Oh, bother, I'm attractive and in my 20s and kind of quirky and searching for my path in life and my supportive boyfriend wants me to be happy and whoops! I fell!" many times before. But it looks harmless enough and will be a fine chaser to the summer blockbuster season when it premieres in August. And Meryl Streep will probably get her 400th Oscar nomination.

The trailer is below, but here's a link in case the player is screwy.

Rhonda

I haven't heard of this and I think it looks FUN! With the economy, swine flu and my husband's downsizing I need a little fun in my life (that isn't at the bottom of a bottle - kidding)

PaintingChef

Oh that looks SO GOOD!!! August, you say?

Jill

Looks kind of cute. Maybe. But why did they give Amy Adams such an awful haircut?

ivymae

I hope the movie keeps some of the bite that the book had. It was wittier than it was cute, but I wonder if that will translate for a summer movie.

Also: Oh Meryl, you brave bitch. Love her.

Another Suburban Mom

I can't wait to see this!

canknitian

Loved the book and now that I know about the movie, I can't wait. Meryl Streep and Amy Adams are perfect!

Fairly Odd Mother

I love both those women. This will be a good mom-and-daughter date with my mom. She'll love it.

And, heck, maybe she'll then understand what a blog is.

margemayhem

Can't wait!
