Rapper T.I. Begins Federal Prison Sentence

Ti Rapper T.I., whose real name is Clifford J. Harris Jr., reported to a Federal prison in Arkansas earlier this week.  He was sentenced to 366 days and will serve the whole term.

The sentence stems from a 2007 arrest before the BET awards.  He was convicted of possession of three unregistered machine guns and two silencers and possession of firearms by a convicted felon. He was ordered to pay $100,300 in fines as well as the prison term.

Prison spokeswoman Linda Thomas says T.I. has entered the prison, but she couldn't give an intake time for T.I.  He was required to appear before noon.

T.I. threw himself a going-away party Sunday night at Philips Arena in Atlanta, Georgia, before a packed house. During Sunday's concert -- called "T.I.'s Final Goodbye Bash" -- he  reiterated a message that's become familiar in recent weeks: He wants others to learn from his mistakes.  "I'm doing the best I can to get out there, man, and put something positive on these young kids, man," he said during the show. "I try my best. I need y'all help, though."  At times in the show, Harris was joined on stage by fellow rapper Soulja Boy and by his five children and mother.

mom2tbet

"Although he was sentenced to 366 days, he will most likely serve a year and a day."

...isn't that like saying an orange isn't an orange, its an orange?

Mrs. CPA

Well, I guess Arkansas is now famous for housing a big rapper. Maybe it will increase our tourism dollars. Prison to the stars over here!

jodifur

It has to do with good time and how much time you actually serve.

Darcey

Yes, but I think mom2bet is pointing out that 366 days = 1 year + 1 day.
So his sentenced time and his likely service time, as written here, is equal.

Accidental Housewife

um, sarcasm??? Methinks she already figured that out.

jodifur

And, I don't know what I was thinking. You are right! Feds do truth in
sentencing. Carry on.

Darcey

I wasn't being (or trying to be) sarcastic at all. I'm not sure how you got that out of what I wrote.

Just making sure that we weren't reading something incorrectly, and if there was an accidental error in the article (as there sometimes can be), that I gave Jodifur a chance to correct it for other people reading.

jodifur

it was an accidental error, it was me being a moron.

jodifur

The mistake discussed in the comments above has been corrected. So if you have no idea what we are talking about, don't worry! It's gone. Poof! Like magic.

Hope

FYI, it looks like the original sentence is still there, just missing the 'H.'

Amanda of Shamelessly Sassy

I hope my beautiful TI is okay in prison. I should write him fan mail. bwahaha.
