What, You Wanted to Watch Dollhouse in November? Fox Don't Think So.

Dollhouse_whedon_dushku_penikett At this point I don't care that nearly nobody watches Dollhouse, Fox TV's Whedon-Dushku metaphor gone wild.  I'm nearly nobody, and I watch the show.  I was even mildly encouraged by Fox's promise to air episodes during November's sweeps month.

By now we should know what a promise from Fox is worth.

That's right.  Fox, contrary to their earlier statement, has decided to air their non-flagship program a total of zero times in November.  Then, in a move that screams 'Wut?', the network will air back-to-back episodes of the program in December. It is unclear whether they will air one set of back-to-backs on December 4, or whether the trend will continue throughout the month.  For those of you keeping score at home, the Dollhouse schedule may look something like this:

October 23 - episode 4

November - DICK ALL PLUS BULLSHIT RERUNS OF OTHER STUFF

December 4 - eps 5&6

December 11 - eps 7&8

December 18 - eps 9&10

December 25 - Holiday Special: A Very Christmas Dollhouse: Whedon and crew put a new spin on the old ho-ho-HO when Echo (Eliza Dushku) is imprinted with the persona of a sex-starved Santa Claus for a rich client with a jingle in his jangle for St. Nick! Things spiral out of control when Echo gets stuck in a chimney and dies.

So what does this mean for Dollhouse? Well, Fox has promised to air the thirteen episodes that it ordered for season two, but beyond that, don't expect much. And we all know what happens when Fox makes a promise.

I don't understand why Fox refuses to support certain shows and then appears to be amazed when their numbers don't pan out. I love Dollhouse and I missed the first two episodes of the season because I thought it had been cancelled. Since, you know, there was NO advertisement.

michele

full of bitter! that show is good and getting so crazy and twisting and turning every episode. fox don't wrong me again.

ajnabi

So. True. I'm nearly nobody too and I heart this show with flowers and chocolates. I don't understand why Fox refuses to promote it; I mean, they paid for the episodes so why not try to at least recoup their costs with a little advertisement?

Liana

I guess I'm a member of the "nearly nobody" crowd, too! I love Dollhouse! Fox is stupid. :(

Pennsylrican

Seriously, Fox, fuck you. Perhaps if you advertised your good shows as much as the crap like So You Think You Can Dance more people might actually watch Dollhouse.

Did you SEE that episode last night? A.Maze.Ing.
