ELLE Magazine Will Honor Lady Gaga's Patented Awesome With a Magazine Cover

Lady_gaga_thumbnail Lady Gaga, née Stefani Germanotta, is set to be ELLE's January 2010 cover girl, and although I am loathe to admit my fangirl status for anything, because, you know, I am way too cool for school, this news sent a thrill through my jumping-up-and-down-screaming fangirl heart. 'Tis true. I want Lady Gaga to be the biggest, most famous performance genius off all time EVAR.

Check out her upcoming ELLE cover...

ELLE scored an exclusive interview with Lady Gaga in which she said things that, frankly, only serve to underscore her already apparent awesomeness:

I feel that if I can show my demise artistically to the public, I can somehow cure my own legend. I can show you so you’re not looking for it. I’m dying for you on domestic television — here’s what it looks like, so no one has to wonder.

Personally, I don't care if that makes her sound all art house pretentious. She is a master of some kind of magic: she both draws attention to and distracts from herself simultaneously, she often manages to wear costumes that appear revealing while revealing nothing, and even the state of her biological sex has remained questionable. Hell, she's pushed this envelope far enough that there are rumours of Lady Gaga's connections with the Illuminati and Satanism:

In her short tenure in the limelight, she has garnered praise, criticism, and intellectual study from well outside the arena of commercial music production. Few other artists have been able to create the cult of personality to which she is undeniably ascending — Madonna and Michael Jackson are two that come to mind — but she is definitely on her way there if she has not already arrived. She fascinates, she repulses, she is both underground and mainstream. She is a living and breathing fetish who, only four years ago, was busting out as the extraordinarily talented Stefani Germanotta, NYU talent show participant:

ELLE is a magazine that barely registered on my radar before it and its Creative Director, Joe Zee, were featured on episodes of The City, but I see it now, at least until this January, thanks to the inimitable Lady Gaga.

Love. Her.

She's an Illuminati agent? AWESOME. I take back everything bad I've ever said about her costumes. She rules.

It's "loath" to admit. Not loathe.

Fangirl is shitay ghetto.

Lady Gaga is TEH AWESOME. I love that cover, love her. Love, love, love...

Agreed. On all counts. She's a total badass.

I thought of another besides Madonna and Michael Jackson (though I do think LG is more creative than either at this stage in the game, and more vocally talented than the former); Prince.

Ms Thistle

Lady Gaga conjures up the awesome crazy Showy Rock Opera Sexstravaganza of the 70's: David Bowie, Queen, Elton John.
