Review: The Official Sex and The City 2 Trailer

Sex-And-The-City-2-First-Poster-Rev  When I heard they were actually making a sequel to the Sex and the City movie, I kinda had a stroke over it. What could they possibly still have to say about these women?

If the trailer is any indication: NOTHING. ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.

I liked the series Sex and the City. It was smart, funny and, while problematic in many ways pertaining to race, class, and gender, an all-around enjoyable series. The movie is a different story, however. I still want my $10 back. So maybe I'm predisposed to hating on this trailer, but can anyone tell me if they saw any semblance of a plot in this trailer?

So, the barrage of puns playing on the name "Carrie" aside, let's break this down. Carrie VOs: It's been two years. And in two years, amazing things can happen. Then we see what all those amazing things might be: Charlotte had a baby and bakes a million pink cupcakes! The three monogamists appear to be happily maintaining their relationships! Samantha got a dog that fits in her purse and a boyfriend young enough to be her son! Wow. You're right, Carrie, what a maelstrom of change. I'm glad there's a movie to catch us up on your lives.

Can you maybe Carrie on without us?

If a trailer is to indicate in some way what a movie is about, the following is a summary of Sex and the City 2:

Carrie: AH MAH GAH YOU GUYS, OUR LIVES ARE SO FABULOUS! LOOK AT OUR PRETTY CLOTHES! NOW LET'S GO RIDE CAMELS IN DUBAI!

I will give big ups to the trailer's use of "Empire State of Mind" by Alicia Keys, which I've been grooving on lately. However, the version I prefer is this one below. And since we can reasonably conclude that this new Sex and the City movie has no plot whatsoever, I see no reason why I should end this article with any sort of cohesion beyond, 'HEY LOOK AT STEPHEN COLBERT RAPPING!"

Snarky Amber is frankly all Carried out.

I think instead of Alvin & the Chipmunks, this movie should have been called "The Squeakquel".

You must have TwoBusy review it since he loved the first movie so much.

Plot? They don't need no steenkin' plot! They're Carrie! And Miranda! And...and...oh, hell. I give up.
