What English Sounds Like To Foreigners

Screen-capture This video is AMAZING. And, honestly, kinda funk-ay.

An Italian singer wrote this song with gibberish to sound like English. If you've ever wondered what other people think Americans sound like, this is it.

Pretty freakin' rad, right?

Thanks to my buddy Joe Gross for the heads-up!

Snarky Amber

Honestly, it sounds a lot more like English than the way people in America imitate people in other countries, particularly outside of Western Europe.

kdiddy

rad. and that song is just kind of the jam.

Fawn Amber

Oll Right!

Sweetney

I wonder if there are actual "lyrics" to this -- ones written down -- or if he made them up on the fly? I guess at least some of the chorus parts have to be written...

Craziness.

Katya

I have to agree that the guy does a great job of approximating English. I just turned this up super-loud for the benefit of my husband in the other room, and his response was "turn it up a little more — I can't quite understand the words." :D

mouthy_broad

that is very amusing.

Cristin

I don't know, he might have said "shoes" a few times.
Very cool. Kind of reminds me of Blondie's "Rapture."
Now how do I get this as a ringtone?

Kim

This man's English is more enunciated than Bob Dylan's!

DianaCLT

But Americans don't have accents.... ;~)

annie

My hubby showed this to me yesterday and it is awesome. Love it.

fadmonkey

I need this song. So Awesome!

deborah

it is a fantastic song! Written 40 years ago ... He is a genius! We must not look at English grammar ... he wanted to understand how Europeans feel the sound of English. The sound of the song is present.
