LOST's Last Supper Promo Photos

Lost_last_supper2 ...And then, just when I thought I'd freed myself from its skull-crushing pain and torment (LOMGST!), ABC goes and releases two promotional images for the new season of LOST (starting February 2nd! Mark your calendars!), and makes my brain all owie and hurty... AGAIN.

Listen, I'm not even going to pretend like I understand the possible signification(s) going on in these two photos (the NYT and Doc Jensen have tried already), and so rather than prattle on incoherently I'll give the floor over to any/all of you who have some ideas about what the various seating arrangements in these photos might indicate relative to the show and its characters.

(I'm a bad Catholic, I kind of quit the whole thing after my first holy communion. Oh, the shame and guilt. Bless me Locke, for I have sinned...)

Alright, alright: here they are (click on the links beneath the images here for the FULL SIZE of each. Note: FULL SIZE means like 3000 px wide, and images that size take a while to load, so be patient, kiddos):

Thoughts? Theories? Ideas? Seriously, I'm dying over here...

Smoke em' if you got em''!

KBO

What it means, I think, is that Mamapop needs to host a livechat for the season premiere. That's also what the numbers mean.

It's also what Bill Murray whispered to ScarJo at the end of Lost in Translation.

Sweetney

@KBO Ooooh you don't have to twist my arm much for that! The chat during last season's finale was super mega awesome. DONE!

Stephanie

Having just read the Doc Jenson one, I would kind of go with those ideas, generally. Jack is definitely Thomas if this is a Christian allegory (I'm not sure I buy the whole "thieves crucified with Christ" scenario) but I'm not sold on Sayid in the Judas role. I mean, Kate's sitting near the same spot & she's wearing green, like Judas in the painting. Maybe she's the betrayer.

Or maybe they said, "Hey let's mess with everyone and stage a "Lost Supper" publicity image to keep people decoding & looking for clues until the season starts ;)

WonderSpot

Hmmm. They do love their religious symbolism, don't they. But, they tend to not take it quite so literally in the series. I'm not sure if Locke = Jesus, but he will be of the utmost importance. Ben looks rather terrified of him in the second one. I think Jack needs some serious redemption, personally, so I'm hoping he'll get to do something kick ass.

I'm also thrilled that Claire will be back. She wasn't my fave, but I want some closure on her story.

Other than that, I think the pictures mean that I need to move to Hawaii STAT.

Sharon

Oh man - I'm SOOO excited about the premiere! I love how there are some people (i.e.: Doc Jensen) who get all intellectual about it, and love reading their theories, but I can never come up with something intelligent on my own. LOL.

Interesting how people have changed places in the 2nd photo. I'm sure every little detail has meaning, but I have no clue what.

Rachel

Here's my two cents (GIDDY, btw, that it's finally coming back!)

Jack is in the same position as Doubting Thomas.
Sayid or Kate could be in the same position as Judas. Sayid could also be Peter, who denied Christ three times.
Locke is obviously the Messiah.
Hurley is in the same position as Simon, whom the others are turning to for explanation.
Miles is in place of Andrew, one of the first martyrs.
Ben is in place of Thaddeus, who was a zealot and obsessed with power, but also loyal to his leader.
That's all I can get from Google. Enjoy :)

Jen

Does anyone know what the show's time slot will be? The premiere is on a Tuesday, but will it fall back into it's Wednesday slot?

Sarah, Goon Squad Sarah

I haven't watched in like three years but I had no idea that Locke was the Jesus.

What have I missed?

Renee

I could not be more excited about Hurley sitting in Mary Magdalene's place. HE'S A PROSTITUTION WHORE!!!

Renee

Aw crap, i meant to write Sawyer, not Hurley. My brain isn't working.

Snarky Amber

I don't watch that show, but some of them don't have any legs. Is that significant?

wallydraigle

What do I think? I think the LOST people are all about the misdirection, and if anyone stumbles upon anything meaningful in these pictures, it will be a miracle.

Also, which Locke are we looking at in these pictures? Is it Fake!Locke or the real thing?

bd

Awesome.

Suzy Q

Aaaack! *coughchokespasm*

I just CANNOT wait for this!
