Getting Ready for V to Return

V1 I'm at a weird point in the year where some of my shows have already ended and some are winding down and there are a number of weeks before others return (True Blood season 3 starts June 13! Eee!). So, I was pretty excited to learn that V returns to ABC next Tuesday, March 30th.

V1 It's been a long time since I've been regularly interested in a show on network TV. I'm sorry to sound like a total snob, but I just think that the quality of shows from the likes of HBO is better. And while some aspects of V are still pretty cheesy, I genuinely like it.

Because there was a break manufactured after just a few episodes when it premiered back in November (to make room for LOST), I'm sure most viewers will have a hard time recalling what was going on when we left off. ABC provides a handy "V-cap" on their site.

One thing that I found really interesting about V was the very prominent pokes at conservative fears. Producer Jerry Bruckheimer is a pretty big-time Republican and when the first portion of V was airing, the health care reform debate was just picking up serious speed. The Vs promise peace and comprehensive, universal health care. Obviously, the peaceful bit isn't entirely true, since they are looking to take us over and they definitely know how to throw a punch or two, though I guess one could argue that they're looking to subdue us altogether so that we'll just willingly hand ourselves over to them.

But I remember chuckling during one of Anna's interviews when the Scott Wolf character pointedly and smirkingly asks her if the Vs offer universal health care (I'm guessing that they heal us to gain our loyalty and also get us healthy for harvesting or whatever). Obviously, the upcoming episodes would have been made before yesterday's big vote, passing health care legislation, but I'll be really curious to see what the rest of the season has in terms of that particular red scare.

Anyway, I have to go scrub my scales. Oops. Did I just say that out loud?

Is this going to be on after Lost? If so, I'm going to be sad because I started watching Justified on FX and I don't think I can give up the Olyphantasticness for scales :)
