Madonna is a Hypocrite

Madonna-daughter-lourdes Madonna wants her 13 year old daughter, Lourdes, to dress more conservatively.

I myself am the parent of a young girl. I agree with the sentiment that thirteen year olds shouldn't dress like sluts. However, I do not feel like this particular woman has a leg to stand on.

I am in no way suggesting that I am a perfect parent or role model, but I try to set good examples with my actions instead of the whole "Do as I say, not as I do" parenting philosophy. Why else would I be eating an apple instead of Cheetohs right now?

Madonna says it is irony that she wants her daughter to dress more conservatively. I call it hypocrisy.

Poor Lourdes probably thinks she IS dressing conservatively.

I mean, it doesn't take much to be more conservative than this.

Realistically, how did Madonna think that her offspring would dress?

Maybe it would be better for Lourdes to take fashion advice from her father.

Eh, never mind.

. . . . .

Goon Squad Sarah is going to try to remember this when she tells her children they spend too much time on the internet.

Jen O.

I don't see anything wrong with that last photo of Madonna. I dress like that to work nearly everyday. Except on dress down Fridays.

Right, on Fridays it is that, but with jeans.

I... can't believe I'm about to say this... but...

... I actually kind of see Madonna's point with this.

As far as I know, she didn't dress like that when she was 13. Lola's 13. I drink alcohol, but I don't think it's okay for my 12-year-old to drink. Does that make me a hypocrite?

On the other hand, if mom is always dressing like a porn star, well, why is she surprised? So I get it. But maybe it's not hypocrisy. Maybe it's her attempt to ask for age-appropriate. (Setting aside, of course, the reality that many of Madonna's outfits are inappropriate at any age, ha.) And she does acknowledge the irony. So I'm inclined to cut her some slack.

This is the best thing I could find.

Can you believe Madonna was born in 1958?

Holy crap!

Suzy Q

Yep, Madonna is a hypocrite AND she's older than me. Good.

Gotta say, I'm with Mir on this one. Madonna may be dressing like a... floosie, but she's an adult... floosie. When Lourdes is an adult she can decide how she wants to dress. Madonna will probably pat her on the back when she's 22 and wearing her first cone-shaped bra.

I would like that photo where she has the microphone stuck in those unfortunate drawers stricken from my memory please. Weird.

I'm on the "not" side.

If I had Madonna's body, you would bet that I'd show it off. In my 20's, 30's, 40's or 50's. She's an adult, and in any provacative picture I've seen of her, she's been an adult. Lourdes is a tween, not an adult.

If she said that to Lourdes when she was 18/20, I'd call her a hypocrite, but certainly NOT when she's talking about a kid.

Laurie - agree with you. Infinity x infinity - I agree with you! Wire brush and bleach, please. MY EYESSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!! WTF is going on with her crotch-area muscles?!?!? She probably physically decimates men that try to get close.

I agree with Mir...Madonna is the adult and the mother and has every right to disagree with her 13 year old's wardrobe.

You are taking those pictures out of context. Those pictures are from performances, not every day life. There is a huge difference between stage costumes and clothes a 13 year old would wear to the mall.

Had you posted pictured of Madonna dressed like that at the park or a grocery store or at a school function...then you'd have a leg to stand on. However, I have never seen a picture of her dressed inappropriately while with her children...therefor, you can't really say she is presenting the "do as I say, not as I do" front.

Did you read that Lourdes is going to have her own clothing line at Macy's soon, in the tween section?

THAT will be interesting.

I don't think it's being a hypocrite at all. Parents tend to want their children to dress appropriately for their age. I wear suits, that doesn't mean I want my three year old niece to wear one too.
