Oprah Taking the Brett Favre Approach to Retirement

Oprah-winfrey I don't think anyone really believed that Oprah would permanently retire her conversation-inducing armchairs once her daytime talk show ends next year. And it seemed likely that she would carve some time for herself at her new network, appropriately named OWN. Today it is confirmed that she will begin hosting a night-time talk show called Oprah's Next Chapter.

The Wall Street Journal reports that the format will be somewhat different. Oprah plans to take the show on the road and conduct interviews all over the world. Of course, being Oprah, this isn't the only idea in the works. The phrase "book-club series" was also tossed around.

My favorite thing about this announcement is the guy from WSJ who interviewed Oprah, Sam Schechner. He appeared for a brief segment on WSJ's The News Hub to discuss his conversation with Ms. Winfrey. Apparently, the economic crisis hit WSJ hard, particularly in their budgets for combs and razors.
