Don't let Billy Joe talk.

I feel a little bit weird about the Greenday-Broadway combo, not gonna lie.
Posted by: Alyssa | June 13, 2010 at 10:40 PM
@M.B.-they were DYING to take Michael. They got seats in the "flying circle." Am Ex was like, you can hold on to them but we are advising all customers to take a refund.
I was like whatever mom, this is going to be TERRIBLE.

Eighty thousand epileptics watching TV just started seizing.
Posted by: Sarah Lena | June 13, 2010 at 10:41 PM
@Alyssa-you will be shocked to know I did not like this. With me not liking Spring Awakening and all.
Posted by: jodifur | June 13, 2010 at 10:42 PM
I just do not buy broadway singers doing Green Day. Like... at all. And they can't make me.
Posted by: Alyssa | June 13, 2010 at 10:42 PM
I don't like this. At.all.
Posted by: Sarah Lena | June 13, 2010 at 10:43 PM
I have no quarrel with this show. Rent had its place in the 90s, this is the Rent of 2010. I put it in the same category as Hair, yanno?
Posted by: Miss Banshee | June 13, 2010 at 10:43 PM
haha, I guess I never thought about the connection. At least with Spring Awakening it wasn't like you'd already heard Billy Joe sing the songs a million times. I could buy a rock musical, but not a musical based on rock... does that make sense outside of my head?
Posted by: Alyssa | June 13, 2010 at 10:44 PM
M.B.-I loved, loved, loved Rent. This isn't Rent. It's like a jukebox musical. But not. I can't even explain it. It's a lot of yelling.
I'd rather see rock of ages again.
Posted by: jodifur | June 13, 2010 at 10:44 PM
Mmmm... I put it more in the same category as "Jersey Boys". I have great disdain.
Posted by: Alyssa | June 13, 2010 at 10:45 PM
@Alyssa, I see what you're saying, but the same could be said of Tommy, right? I dunno, I just wanna see the show. I could be totally wrong.
Posted by: Miss Banshee | June 13, 2010 at 10:45 PM
There are some musicians/bands that feel right (and have the passion for) being transpired onto the stage.
Green Day just feels like they went, "Yeah, cool. More $$$. Sure, why the hell not?"
Posted by: Sarah Lena | June 13, 2010 at 10:46 PM
@Alyssa-ha! I liked jersey boys.
@M.B.-you might like it. It's interesting.
Posted by: jodifur | June 13, 2010 at 10:47 PM
I actually don't dis-like Jersey Boys, although I haven't seen it. I mean, I like the Four Seasons. But the idea of Jukebox musicals in general are not my cup of tea. I would agree that Am. Idiot is in the same category.
Posted by: Alyssa | June 13, 2010 at 10:48 PM
@Sarah-there music didn't transfer well, your right about that. And there was yelling.
But, some people love it! It has a really strong fan base.
Posted by: jodifur | June 13, 2010 at 10:48 PM
haha @Nathan Lane
Posted by: Alyssa | June 13, 2010 at 10:49 PM
I love LOVE love Nathan Lane and Bebe Neu.. yes.
Posted by: Sarah Lena | June 13, 2010 at 10:50 PM
@Alyssa-the interesting thing about Jersey boys is that they don't use the music to tell the story a la mama mia or rock of ages, the music is in the background. It's my favorite of the jukebox genre. But in general I would prefer something original. But they just aren't doing them anymore.
Posted by: jodifur | June 13, 2010 at 10:50 PM
Bebe and Nathan are killing me. Bravo, writers.
Posted by: Miss Banshee | June 13, 2010 at 10:50 PM
you've got to be kidding.
Posted by: JennL | June 13, 2010 at 10:51 PM
WHOA.. Sheree Renee Scott looks ROUGH.
Also, CZJ won the Tony?! That performance was NOT good. Hope she was better in the run.
Posted by: Sarah Lena | June 13, 2010 at 10:51 PM
secret confession: my old VHS tape of "Finian's Rainbow" with Fred Astaire and Petula Clark is my go-to comfort movie. Awful musical, really. But God, how I love it.
Posted by: Alyssa | June 13, 2010 at 10:51 PM
Ugh. Stunt casting. Can't believe people like Christiane Noll got passed over for stunt casting.
Posted by: Miss Banshee | June 13, 2010 at 10:52 PM
@Alyssa-oh g-d I hate Finnan's rainbow. That and Brigadoon. Maybe B/c I was in both in high school and it brings up terrible rehearsal memories.
Posted by: jodifur | June 13, 2010 at 10:52 PM
WTF, Tonys?! Catherina Zeta!? You're dead to me!
Posted by: Alyssa | June 13, 2010 at 10:52 PM
Wow. She was even more annoying than while she was singing. Shocking.
Posted by: Alyssa | June 13, 2010 at 10:53 PM
I did not see that one coming. He won the London equivalent though.
Posted by: jodifur | June 13, 2010 at 10:54 PM
Heehee, Jodi I am RIGHT THERE WITH YOU re: Finnian's Rainbow and Brigadoon.
Posted by: Miss Banshee | June 13, 2010 at 10:54 PM
Jodifur- I know, I know. I have no excuse. I grew up on it is my only justification. I can't help myself.
Posted by: Alyssa | June 13, 2010 at 10:54 PM
@M.B.-have you seen Kismet? That's on my list too.
Posted by: jodifur | June 13, 2010 at 10:55 PM
@Alyssa-I can't talk. I watch the new 90210. And the new melrose place. I'm shameful.
Posted by: jodifur | June 13, 2010 at 10:56 PM
Jodi, I hate Kismet too. Oh! And Oklahoma.
Posted by: Miss Banshee | June 13, 2010 at 10:56 PM
@M.B.-7 brides for 7 brothers? Carousel? oh, oh, State Fair?
Posted by: jodifur | June 13, 2010 at 10:57 PM
I hate them ALL, Jodi! We're such bad theatre geeks.
Posted by: Miss Banshee | June 13, 2010 at 10:57 PM
Carousel and Oklahoma is where altos go to die. Fierce hatred for them both.
Posted by: Alyssa | June 13, 2010 at 10:58 PM
@M.B.-I can keep going.
Posted by: jodifur | June 13, 2010 at 10:58 PM
Let's wrap this puppy up, Bernadette!
Posted by: Miss Banshee | June 13, 2010 at 10:59 PM
Bernadette has not changed one bit in 15 years. I would make that deal with the devil in a split second.
Posted by: Alyssa | June 13, 2010 at 10:59 PM
Memphis is totally not going to win.
Posted by: jodifur | June 13, 2010 at 10:59 PM

Posted by: Alyssa | June 13, 2010 at 11:01 PM
