You Might Want to Pick Woody Harrelson For Your Adult Kickball Team.

Woody-Harrelson Hey, I'm not trying to jock up the joint over here. This is a pop culture website, not a sports blog. So I'll spare you the details about why you should be watching the World Cup even if you're not a sports fan (sanctioned daytime drinking and several shirtless menfolk, for starters). But I wouldn't be your friend if I didn't show you this pop culture/sports crossover moment of glory, surprisingly courtesy of a star of film and television. Seriously, in terms of sports, this is, like, better than Rudy.

Soccer Aid is a charity soccer match benefiting UNICEF that's held every two years, pitting former English professional players against various celebrities from around the world. The 2010 game was tied 2-2 at the end of regulation, which means the game goes into a shootout, where players take turns taking one-on-one shots until one team wins. The shootout was tied, 6-6, when former Cheers star and noteworthy stoner Woody Harrelson steps up to take what could be the winning shot.

What's more awesome? The black and white still at the end of Woody hoisting the trophy? Wayne Campbell psyching up Woody before his shot? Or speculating whether or not Woody smoked a j before the game and if so (which, let's not kid ourselves here) did it impact his performance in the match? Harrelson's no Landon Donovan, to be sure, but Donovan probably couldn't play Larry Flint, now could he?
