The Wild Hunt Glamorizes Vikings. Role-Players.

The_wild_hunt_movie_larp-266x300  I just saw the trailer for The Wild Hunt, an independent film directed b Alexandre Franchi that debuted at the Santa Barbara Film Festival, and now I'm so confused about my feelings that I may have to go see a therapist and try and figure out which one of my parents damaged my id in early development. I think it's about a LARP (Live Action Role Playing) excursion that goes horribly wrong, or maybe its about time-travelers who go back to Viking times. Or maybe it's about sexual assault, because there seems to be some of that in there too. Either way, I'm just going to go sit in the corner for a little bit and hug myself.

James Van Der Beek Still Relevant; Miss Banshee's Mind Blown

Thebeek  You know, I thought we left the Beek behind with the 90s, back when my college roommates and I would play the Dawson's Creek drinking game and guzzle Boone's Strawberry Hill whenever the Beek's wonky eye was especially noticeable. But this week has brought not one but TWO Beek-related stories, and I guess I have to admit that yes. The Beek is still relevant.

To Catch a Thief - World of Warcraft

World-of-warcraft-logo This is going to sound like the plot to a particularly geeky episode of Law & Order but it actually happened.

This guy named Alfred Hightower was in trouble with the law for dealing drugs and so he fled the country.

The fuzz tracked him down by checking up on his World of Warcraft character.

70-Minute Review/Analysis of 'The Phantom Menace': A Review

Jar-jar-binksA review of a review - how meta! You may be wondering why I would review a review of a movie that is more than 10 years old, but just go with it, okay?

Best of 2009: Next Year Better Kick Way More Ass

Bd1c5ff767ef4345_a426099b3178abc4_o So, 2009. It was OK. Not the worst year ever, no, but definitely not as awesome as 2010 will be (I have a feeling). My best of the year list, which has no cohesive theme except it's 1) a list, whoo! and 2) each item has best in the title.

Top Five Reasons I Want to Punch Cartoon Network in the Junk

Cartoonnetwork My son discovered Cartoon Network somewhat by accident and most likely well before the general recommended age. My 80-year-old grandmother-in-law was babysitting him one day when he was about 5 years old and stumbled upon the channel. Not being the most media-savvy lady, she made the logical conclusion that cartoons = quality kids' programming. My kid was hooked.

I'm a Call of Duty Widow

Modern-Warfare-2 My husband, who could not tell you who just won the World Series (or who has EVER won the World Series for that matter) and who could not tell you who Harry Potter was even written by or who has ever owned a game console before stood in line for hours last night with a packed backpack full of Red Bull in anticipation of the release of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. He got home this morning at 8 a.m. after playing it ALL NIGHT LONG with a friend of his. That's ... weird, right?

Apparently it's not that weird.
