Tila Tequila/Shawne Merriman Lawsuits Lives On as Tila Abandons Twitter

Tila-tequila2 Remember this?  Well, he sued her, claiming she sabotaged a business deal of his by defaming him with her false allegations.  She never answered and the judge issued a default judgment.  But, the judge just threw out the default judgment.  So these two will be back in court.  Yippee!

The 20 Worst Parenting Fails: Uhhh FAIL! Doesn't Even Begin To Cover These

Worst_parenting_failsI'm sure we all have moments where we fear we've made some mistakes and bad choices as parents. But WOW, I think it's pretty safe to say NOTHING you've done has anything on these people.

To Catch a Thief - World of Warcraft

World-of-warcraft-logo This is going to sound like the plot to a particularly geeky episode of Law & Order but it actually happened.

This guy named Alfred Hightower was in trouble with the law for dealing drugs and so he fled the country.

The fuzz tracked him down by checking up on his World of Warcraft character.

BeautifulPeople.com Reminds Us of What Is Important in Life

Jocelyn_wildenstein The holiday season is about reflecting on what is good in life and finding some sense of gratitude and contentment, even in the darkest corners of existence. And New Year's is about obsessing over your flaws and embracing any superficial tendencies you have and resolving to become a better person and having nightmares about the plate of cookies that you ate. And one dating site is helping you to weed out the less-thans in life.

Stuff I Dug in 2009

Coraline Though 2009 is ending on a moderately high note for me (finished grad school yippee!), it was sort of a jerk most of the time. However, there were some bright moments, pop culturally speaking.

Best of 2009: Next Year Better Kick Way More Ass

Bd1c5ff767ef4345_a426099b3178abc4_o So, 2009. It was OK. Not the worst year ever, no, but definitely not as awesome as 2010 will be (I have a feeling). My best of the year list, which has no cohesive theme except it's 1) a list, whoo! and 2) each item has best in the title.

Goon Squad Sarah's Top 9 of 2009

Goon Squad Sarah 20092009 was a pretty fantastic year. Well, sort of. I'm still grumpy that my kids have three days off of school after the snowpocalypse this weekend. Three extra days. They actually don't go back to school until 2010 now. I know I should be happy that I get to spend extra time with my children, but they are currently making up some sort of birthday rap so it feels more like headache than quality time.

But I digress, you want to know what my favorite things were in 2009?

Pap Smears: The Gift on Every Woman's Holiday Wish List, Am I Right?

Cbs-logo CBS has launched a new holiday PSA campaign that when broadcast in my home, silenced the room and made me look sort of quizzically at my husband. See the ads encourage men to give the women in their lives something meaningful, like a pap smear appointment! So, pap smears are the new eternity necklaces, I guess? How do you wrap those suckers up?

Hey Peter, Man! Try Ignoring the Haters and Being Secure in Your Sexuality!

Ron_livingston Ron Livingston, perhaps best known for playing Peter Gibbons in the 1999 cult classic Office Space, is suing Wikipedia for libel, invasion of privacy, and using his name and likeness without his permission.

Subway's Mostly Disastrous Advertising Record Redeems Itself...Slightly

Jared-pants The smell of Subway made me sick when I was pregnant and I still can't really eat there now, almost 8 years later. So, really, their advertising has no effect on me one way or the other. Therefore, I can offer a totally objective assessment.

Busking on the Internets: Social Media and the New Music Economy

Opencase Frustrated by the lack of autonomy and profit gained from signing with a major record label, many bands have gravitated toward independent labels since the mid 90s. However, with the popularity of social media, some artists are taking that pursuit of independence one step further, cutting the middleman out altogether.

@shitmydadsays - The Fine Art of (Perhaps) Destroying Something Beautiful

Screen-capture2 "The baby will talk when he talks, relax.  It ain't like he knows the cure for Cancer and he just ain't spittin' it out." -shitmydadsays

Justin Halpern, creator of the wildly popular (see: over 700,000 followers) twitter feed has been given the nod by CBS.  Halpern, 29 and living, as of August of aught nine, with his parents, will co-write the pilot script with CBS.  This follows in the wake of a book deal with Harper Collins. Damn.  The fam and I lived with my mother and her husband for over a year after the sale of our second home.  I should have been writing some shit down.  Live and Learn, I reckon.

I'm a Call of Duty Widow

Modern-Warfare-2 My husband, who could not tell you who just won the World Series (or who has EVER won the World Series for that matter) and who could not tell you who Harry Potter was even written by or who has ever owned a game console before stood in line for hours last night with a packed backpack full of Red Bull in anticipation of the release of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. He got home this morning at 8 a.m. after playing it ALL NIGHT LONG with a friend of his. That's ... weird, right?

Apparently it's not that weird.
