The MamaPop Pop Culture Confessional: Fussy Edition!

Pop_culture_confessional

Welcome to the MamaPop Pop Culture Confessional, where we receive confession of any and all pop culture pleasures, guilty or otherwise!

Today, we take confession from the extremely awesome Eden of Fussy and the incomparably genius Let's Panic About Babies!

Herewith, her not-so-guilty pop culture pleasures, in her own words:

Here's one thing that drives my brother nuts: I've never actually been to confession. I grew up Catholic but when I was preparing for my Confirmation (it's like a bat mitzvah except for the theme is Jesus) and everyone was lining up to go sit in the dark little booth and spill their guts, I just went and sat in a pew like I'd already done it, and nobody ever checked. See, that's the thing about lacking respect for authority, you learn how to make it look like you're following the rules, when actually you're just sitting there wondering if your mom will pick you up in time to make it home to watch the show about that Roman emperor who has sex with his sister.

Anyway, *if* I felt guilt about anything, it probably wouldn't be the fact that I like to watch PBS.

Welcome to the MamaPop Pop Culture Confessional, where we receive confession of any and all pop culture pleasures, guilty or otherwise!

Today, we take confession from the incomparably awesome Isabel of AlphaMom.

Herewith, her not-so-guilty pop culture pleasures, in her own words:

What an honor to share my most recent pop culture obsessions with you. Luckily for us all, over the past decade we have been blessed by some of the most incredibly written, directed and performed works of are on television, like The Shield, Dexter and Mad Men to name but a few. However for some reason I don’t feel too guilty about watching those shows. My addictions below?  Well… that’s a different story.

Pop_culture_confessional

Welcome to the MamaPop Pop Culture Confessional, where we receive confession of any and all pop culture pleasures, guilty or otherwise!

Today, we take confession from Stefania, aka CityMama, and Cat, aka Bad Kitty, who are also authors of the humor blog 40 Whatever and founders of Clever Girls Collective. They are AWESOME.

Herewith, their not-so-guilty pop culture pleasures, in their own words:

Everyone has them. You try to keep them secret, but sooner or later it always comes out. For some people it's food, others an unmissable TV show, or a totally not green/p.c. need for "fresh spring scented" fabric softener.

Since we know we're in excellent company with the MamaPop crew, we're not shy about sharing our guilty pleasures. Heck, we're proud to say WE LOVE:

Herewith, Michelle's not-so-guilty pop culture pleasures, in her own words:

Today, is the unrepentant Liz from Mom-101, who has a more than a few confessions to share.

Herewith, Liz's not-so-guilty pop culture pleasures, in her own words:

. . . . .

The idea of me sharing my pop culture guilty pleasures with you all is laughable considering I feel little to no guilt about my pop culture affections. They are, simply, pleasures. Like the gentle sound of a baby laughing or a misogynist TV political commentator losing all his sponsors, these are the things in life that give me joy.

The MamaPop Pop Culture Confessional: DutchBlitz Edition!

MP confessional Welcome to the MamaPop Pop Culture Confessional, where we receive confession of any and all pop culture pleasures, guilty or otherwise!

Today, we welcome the incomparable Angella of DutchBlitz, who has much guilty awesome to share!

Herewith, Ms. Angella's not-so-guilty pop culture pleasures, in her own words:

1. So You Think You Can Dance
I know, I KNOW. I'm nothing if not original. While I do not follow Nigel on Twitter (though maybe I should), I do watch it with the entire family. Watching my almost-three-year-old daughter as she shimmies her booty and slithers across the floor brings me no end of glee. Mary Murphy is almost a deal breaker what with her, "You are amazing! YES YOU ARE!", "You rocked that! YES YOU DID!", "You belong on the Hot Tamale Train. YES YOU DO!" statements. Last week I tossed out the idea that we turn her "YES YOU ARE/DID/DO" statements into a drinking game, but if I were to do that many shots my liver would curl up and die.

The MamaPop Pop Culture Confessional: Miss Zoot Edition

MP confessional Welcome to the MamaPop Pop Culture Confessional, where we receive confession of any and all pop culture pleasures, guilty or otherwise!

Today, we welcome Miss Zoot, who has much awesome to share!

Herewith, Zoot's not-so-guilty pop culture pleasures, in Zoot's own words:

1. So You Think You Can Dance: While I hate to steal, especially from someone with such great hair, I have to also jump on the Hot Tamale Train and claim my obsession but offer my own twist on why this is totally NOT a guilty pleasure. Because my husband watches it too! We're bonding! It's family time! Right?

2. Hannah Montana: I can not even believe I'm admitting this out loud: I'm taking my daughter to see Hannah Montana in concert. BAH! I know. I've seen Pink Floyd in concert! The Grateful Dead! The Cure! And all combined I spent less than I did on those damn Hannah Montana tickets. I'm adequately ashamed. I assure you.

The MamaPop Pop Culture Confessional: Whoorl Edition

MP confessional Welcome to the MamaPop Pop Culture Confessional, where we receive confession of any and all pop culture pleasures, guilty or otherwise!

Today, our super-speshul guest is Sarah, of Whoorl, and Hair Thursday, and other sundry awesome!

Take it away, Sarah!

Sarah's not-so-guilty pop culture pleasures, in Sarah's own words:

1. So You Think You Can Dance - I considered not including this miracle of programming in my list because, frankly, I feel NO shame for watching this show. (This is supposed to be a confessional, right?) The dancers, the choreography, Cat Deeley's fantastic hair...holy Christ, I love this show and will shout it from the rooftops. However, I might need penance for the following. I just recently found out that Nigel Lythgoe has a Twitter account (@dizzyfeet, holla!) and am now gleefully following him.

The MamaPop Pop Culture Confessional: Dad Gone Mad Edition

MP confessional So remember how we decided that it would be, like, SO MUCH FUN to subject our favorite bloggers and sundry characters to a MamaPop Pop Culture Confessional, wherein they would be compelled to confess their current top five pop culture pleasures, guilty or otherwise? And how we like totally got Kristen of Motherhood Uncensored to spill her dirty, dirty secrets and then we all sat around and drank the communion wine and made up penances for her? That was fun, right?

Well, we're doing it again. In fact, I think that we're going to try to do it every week (so if there's someone out there whose pop culture confessions you're dying to hear, let us know in the comments.) This week, it's Danny of Dad Gone Mad (and whose first book, Rage Against The Meshugenah, is being released this summer and you should all totally buy it because you need to laugh that hard, I promise you). Seeing as his confessions involve penguins, boners and anecdotes about his junk falling out of his bathing suit, you might want to not consume any liquid while you're reading this.

Herewith, Danny's Top Five Pop Culture Moments Of Shame And/Or Glory, in his own words:

The MamaPop Pop Culture Confessional: Motherhood Uncensored Edition

MP confessional MamaPop loves pop culture. And MamaPop loves cool betches and besterds who love pop culture. So the MamaPop braintrust thought, oh hai! We has big cool frendz! We has ways of making them confess their pop culture addictions! MWAH HA HA!

So we decided that it would be, like, SO MUCH FUN to subject our favorite bloggers and sundry characters to the MamaPop Confessional, wherein they would be compelled to confess their current top five pop culture pleasures, guilty or otherwise.

(NOTE: We were going to call this feature OPERATION UNICORN OUTREACH: TOTAL PENETRATION, but as we're already using that title as the code name for our world domination project and, also, the theme of our first metal album, we figured, let's stretch ourselves a little. And, also, we wanted to seize the opportunity to play a little fast and loose with Catholic rituals, but that's just a bonus)

And our first confessee is (appropriately, given the smutty backstory here) Kristen Chase, aka Motherhood Uncensored and the Mominatrix!
