 One year ago today I was sitting in a terrible college summer dinner theater performance, killing my iPhone battery from relentless under-the-table Googling and scrolling through a deluge of "Michael Jackson is dead" updates on Tweetie. 

My mind was blown. It was a weird day. Farrah died. Michael died. Scroll scroll scroll.

The first concert I ever saw live was Bon Jovi and Cinderella at the Bayfront Center in St. Petersburg, Florida in 1987. At that point in my life it was by far the coolest thing I had ever seen. When my 15 year old self saw Jon Bon Jovi strut out in the same jacket he wore in the "Livin' on a Prayer" video I thought I was going to pass out. I screamed like it was the Beatles. I knew then that I could die happy.

Ah, June - the month when the schools close forcing me to take care of my own children ALL. DAY. LONG.

June is also the month where I go to buy my husband a father's day card only to be inundated with graduation cards reminding me that I graduated from high school almost 20 years ago. True story. I graduated from high school 19 years ago in good old 1991. Remember 1991?

Loving To Hate Eminem Is the Right Kind Of Wrong

As I eagerly await the release of Eminem's new album, Recovery, on June 22nd, I gave myself  the task of grappling with a question. Why is Eminem, a rapper who delivers enough offensive content to offend everyone in some form or another, the best selling artist of the last decade? We're constantly being taught that we're supposed to be nice. We're supposed to be progressing toward some collective enlightened nice world where everyone's nice. So how did Eminem sell 32.2 million albums in the 2000s?

Even Eminem Thinks Ben Roethlisberger is Despicable

One time I saw an interview with Dave Grohl and he was saying that when Weird Al Yankovic released "Smells Like Nirvana" that it was the moment when the Nirvana realized that they had made it.

I seriously doubt that Ben Roethlisberger feels the same way about being mentioned in Eminem's new song "Despicable".
